From Cypress Hills Provincial Park we motored to Moose Jaw. We spent 3 nights at the Moose Jaw KOA which was part of a travel complex called Prairie Oasis. Oasis? Not so much. Perhaps in its’ heyday, this complex was an Oasis. Now, it’s more like a tired desert. The motel is in dire need of a facelift. The campground needs some maintenance as well. RV-ers tend to have certain expectations when the “KOA” name is attached to a campground, and this KOA was below the usual standards.
Here’s a photo of a very unusual RV set up we encountered in Moose Jaw; it’s basically a camper mounted on a semi. We spoke with the couple, and they had been on the road from the Yukon for about 6 weeks. The camper has three slide outs but I think I’d still be a bit claustrophobic.
Our main reason for re-visiting Moose Jaw was to “take in the waters” at the Temple Gardens Mineral Spa. The massages we booked also included a dip in the mineral waters. We enjoyed our time at Temple Gardens, even if the prices are a bit steep. Money saving hint – a discount is offered after 9 p.m. to soak in the springs.
We then continued on to Langham, Saskatchewan (just outside of Saskatoon) and stayed at a hidden gem of an RV Park.
River Valley RV Park https://www.rivervalleyrvpark.com is closer to the epitome of the term “Oasis”. For about the same price as the KOA, at this park we enjoyed sparking clean washrooms (with free showers that had great water pressure), well-manicured lawns, access to a club house if we wanted, and even a pickeball court. There are a lot of seasonal sites and if we lived in Saskatoon, it would be very tempting to have a seasonal site there. You can tell the owners of this park really care about their customers and property.
We met a friend from Manitoba there and had supper together. We spent 4 nights at this park. We also enjoyed a walk by the river in Saskatoon.

We stopped for one night in Swift Current on our way home and the RV park we stayed in there was under new management and in dire need of rejuvenation, and the new owners seem to be working on the same.
Interesting how all 3 RV parks cost pretty much the same per night and River Valley RV Park was like paradise compared to the other two.
Overall, a decent RV vacation however the heat was definitely on (and so were the mosquitoes). Bring bug spray and sunscreen when travelling in Saskatchewan in July!
