In 2008 we took our RV to Moose Jaw, Sask. It’s a long drive for a long weekend but we took an extra day so we had a 4-day weekend. We stayed at a lovely campground called “River Park” in the Wakamow Valley near Moose Jaw. https://www.wakamow.ca

Moose Jaw is home to “Temple Gardens Mineral Spa” which is [apparently] Canada’s largest geo-thermal water pool. Located on the rooftop, it’s a great way to relax. Temple Gardens also has a hotel and a spa. According to http://www.templegardens.sk.ca/pool.html, high mineral concentrations of Epsom and potassium, silicon and magnesium help to relax sore muscles, and rejuvenate, rehydrate the skin and detox the body. Drinking lots of water helps enhance the effects of “taking the waters.”

While in Moose Jaw, we travelled to Rouleau, SK, a sleepy town about 45 minutes from Moose Jaw. Sleepy that is unless the hit comedy “Corner Gas” is filming there. Rouleau, SK, is the location for the fictional town of “Dog River” the setting for Corner Gas. We were huge fans of the show, and were very excited to visit the set. Empty at the time, as filming had finished for the season.
The Dog River police station houses a business called “The Stoop” which sells Corner Gas merchandise and resembles a old-fashioned ice cream parlor. I loved the sign in the window of the building which said “this is not a real police station!”

The little town of Rouleau SK was front and centre as Corner Gas, the TV series, was extremely popular all over the world. Unfortunately in 2016, the set had to be torn down: https://regina.ctvnews.ca/end-of-the-line-for-dog-river-corner-gas-set-torn-down-in-sask-1.3146178
While the TV show ended in 2009, a movie was released in 2014 and, for the past three years, Corner Gas has lived on in animated form. https://www.cornergas.com
